Not having a Valentine’s Day date made me want to treat myself to something special. For me, that means giving myself some “girl time” and buying new clothes from my favorite brand, White House Black Market. There’s a reason why I love WHBM so much; not only do their clothes exude a sophisticated aesthetic, I’ve always had positive experiences with their sales associates, who are helpful and assist me with making smart fashion choices. As a feminine-identified transgender person who didn’t get to experience girlhood, having experienced sales associates on my side goes a long ways in making me feel more comfortable in my style and fashion choices.
Enjoy the pictures:
I bought the blue dress, the ivory-color WHBM FORME tank (worn under the dress), and the gold necklace seen close-up in the second picture. I think this dress will look great whenever I decide to go swing dancing again! I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t buy the floral kimono seen in the fourth picture, but keeping myself to a budget of $300 meant that I had to pass it up this time around.
I’m actually surprised that the dress seemed to fit me so well. As a flat-chested transgender person with a large upper-body, I find it a challenge to find dresses that fit. While the upper portion felt a little loose, given that it was designed for people more well-endowed than myself, the WHBM FORME tank worked in tandem with the dress to create a higher neckline. This made myself feel more comfortable knowing I wouldn’t have any wardrobe malfunctions, even though I doubt I would have a wardrobe malfunction without the tank.
If you like these outfits, I’ll provide some (non-sponsored) links to the items I tried on: Dress, Necklace, Tank, Kimono Blouse
I would like to send my thanks to the staff at WHBM University Park Village in Fort Worth for providing me with such a rewarding (and helpful) style session! You are all wonderful 🙂
UPDATE: I bought the pictured Kimono Sleeve Blouse after I found out that WHBM had a sale during the Presidents’ Day weekend. I also bought a pink satin-front shirt as well.
I’m definitely going to showcase both of these tops in my spring lookbook! Keep an eye out in the days and weeks to come.
